Wedge Secrets

Wedge Secrets by Jack Moorehouse

Short-game problems aren’t always due to a bad swing. Recently, a student came to me about his short game. He was unable to cut strokes from his golf handicap because of his chipping and pitching. His inability to get the ball close from 100 yards in was costing him strokes. Since he was serious about improving, he wanted to strengthen this weakness. He scheduled a golf lesson, hoping I could provide some golf tips to resuscitate his short game.

When set-up to the ball, I quickly recognized the problem. He was committing one of the most common short game mistakes made by weekend golfers. His lie angle (the angle at which the sole of the club rests on the ground) was off. It was too flat, causing the club’s toe to dig down. When the toe digs down, the heel comes up. Thus, he was hitting everything off the club’s toe, wearing away that area of his wedge. Simply put, you can tell a lot about how you’re hitting a club by looking at wear marks.

A Valuable Lesson The real problem here was that the club wasn’t part of the original set off irons. The clubs in that set were fitted to my student. The wedge he bought off the rack. Unfortunately, it wasn’t fitted properly. And it was costing him strokes. But the problem taught her a valuable lesson. While lie angle was the problem here, it’s not always the problem in every case. Usually, mis-hits stem from one of three root causes: lie angle, posture, or grip.

To fix the problem, you have to either change wedges or have it bent so that it’s more upright. If you suspect your club is too flat (or too upright), check it out by using a “lie board” to determine where the club is bottoming out. All club companies and club fitters have one. Fortunately for my student, wedges are somewhat forgiving. So her mis-hits weren’t too bad. But with longer clubs this might not be the case. Having determined the problem, we set about correct it.

Two Other Causes Bad posture is another cause of mis-hits. Whenever I gave a student a golf lesson, I start by checking her posture. First, I check her distance from the ball. Your hands should hang down under your shoulders in a neutral hanging position–not too close and not too far away. If you feel like your reaching for the ball, your hands are to far away from your body. You’re standing too far from the ball. Adopt a proper posture and your mis-hits should drop dramatically.

Faulty grip is a third cause of wedge problems. It’s a mistake I see all the time in my golf instruction sessions. Because your wrists set the club’s lie angle, they must be in the correct position to hit a ball correctly. A good way to check this is to look at your glove. If the palm is wearing down, you’re not holding the club enough in your fingers. Holding the club too much in your palm sets the wrong lie angle, causing toe hits. Obviously, you need to hold the cub more in your fingers. But check your grips as well. If they are too thick or too then, you’ll be more inclined to hold the club in your palm. Golfballs.com

Two Good Short Game Drills Having resolved the student’s initial problem, I also gave him two drills to improve his short game. The first teaches you to hit chips on line. The second shows you how to make sure your pitches travel the right distance.

* Place two clubs parallel to each other about eight inches apart. Make sure the track they create points directly at the target. Practice your chipping stroke. Keeping the club inside the track. To hit chips on line, the clubface must be square and the path of the clubhead must be toward the target.

* The key to pitching shots accurately is landing them in the right shot. Place a range bucket, pail, small trash can, or box about 20 feet away. Try to hit your shots so that they hit or just clear the obstacle you have created. Vary the distances– moving it closer for some shots and farther away for others.

Faulty swings are the only cause of mis-hits in your short game. The wrong lie angle, bad posture, or a faulty grip also causes them. Once you eliminate the mis-hits, use practice drills to help you develop accuracy. Practice the drills and you’ll resuscitate your short game and chop strokes off your golf handicap.

9 Things You Have To Know About Your Tee Position

9 Things You Have To Know About Your Tee Position by Michael Lewis

Do you have big problems teeing off the ball? Have you ever considered how detrimental bad tee position can be? Sometimes, its not the swing that’s the problem. Quite often it can be the position you tee the ball up. We are going to look at some of the damaging effects of this and what you can do to ensure a smooth ride off of any tee you play off.
There are different rules regarding tee position when you compare the woods against the irons. We will start with everyone’s favourite, the driver.

With the driver you are looking to promote an ascending blow to the ball. Accordingly, you want to tee the ball up higher than you would for any other club. There is often debate about how high exactly but the orthodox method is to have half the ball above the top of the driver. Some will say that you should have the entire ball above the club - for this it would be worth experimenting at the range. Its possible that a higher position is worth an extra 20 yards. I’m sure you wouldn’t turn that down!

To ensure that you achieve the ascending blow to the ball you should place the ball forward in your stance - inside of the left heel is standard.

You may find that if you are hitting the ball too high or slicing then the tee may actually be too high for you. The opposite tends to be the case if it is too low. Adjust accordingly particularly if you are having persistent slice and hook problems. This may not completely cure your issues but may reduce the extent to which the ball is going right or left.

The fairway woods are used in a similar way to the driver. The ball should be on the inside left heel and approximately half the ball should be showing. You may want to lower it slightly if you are using a hybrid or higher fairway wood.

The irons are different in that you are looking to hit the ball just before the low point of the swing. This is what is known as ‘hitting down on the ball’. When you connect the club face angle takes care of the loft of the ball. So to ensure you are in the correct position let the design of the club guide you. When you approach the ball lay the club down as it was designed and have the butt of the club pointing toward your belly button. You should notice that the longer the club the further toward your inside left heel the ball should be. As a guide the ball should be in the centre of your stance for your wedges, an inch further forward for 5,6,7 and another inch or so on for the long irons.

Tee height for irons should be as follows; head of the tee just above the ground for 6 iron and shorter, half an inch above ground for the long to mid irons.

For the more consistent and confident amongst you alter the angle of your shots by moving the ball in your stance. Move it further forward to get more height and further back for a lower trajectory. This is only recommended for more advanced players who are looking to be a bit more creative in shaping their tee shots. However, take note of this as it gives you a guide to the effect ball position has on the flight of the golf ball.

Your overall aim is to find a consistent tee height and position. It then naturally follows that your tee shots will be more consistent. Go through these tips and experiment at the range. With the tee height you can then go away and mark your tees up for each club so you don’t have to fiddle around on the tee when you’re playing for real. You will gain more confidence and the tee shot will become a much more pleasurable experience.

Golf Tee Shots - Master Tips For Hitting The Golf Ball Long & Straight

Golf Tee Shots - Master Tips For Hitting The Golf Ball Long & Straight by Joe Collinsworth

The golf tee shot. This is the one shot that gets a lot of acclaim and practice.
It’s the sizzle to the steak or as they say in golf, drive for show and putt for dough.

That statement may be true, however if you can’t get off the tee whether with a driver or iron, then the round you play will be quite a challenge.

Now, I’ve seen players such as Tiger have terrible rounds off the tee, yet still be able to score well and win.

However, hitting goof golf tee shots and scoring a great round are two different topics.

Let’s dive in and master some simple tips for hitting the golf ball long and straight off the tee.

First things first, you don’t need to hit your driver 300+ yards to do well on 90% of the golf courses out there.

A solid 200-250 yard drive will set you up nicely for a mid-range to short iron that will make your second shot a breeze.

Another thing that you need to do with every tee shot is develop a routine and visualize your shot.

Most golfers have no clue how important this part is. Personally, I stand behind the ball and envision a perfect shot. What I’m doing is telling my body exactly what to do as I see that perfect swing.

I then go into a simple routine that ensures comfort and confidence to make a nice swing.

There is a lot going on throughout the golf swing, so the more you are prepared and make it a routine, the better shots you’ll hit.

Choose a way to do this and stay with it.

As you set up to the ball, be sure to go through a checklist of sorts.

How’s your grip feel? Are you wringing the club’s neck so to speak?

How is your stance? Is the ball aligned properly with to your feet. Are you aiming at the spot you plan on hitting it to?

Is your stance to narrow or wide? Are your knees bent and flexible?

Bottom line, are you comfortable that your balance is in tact?

Aside from set up here are other problems many golfers face off the tee and if you focus on double checking everything until it becomes routine, then you won’t have as many bad tee shots…

-Ball is teed too high or too low.

-The takeaway is not on line. Whether you take the swing on the inside, outside, or straight back, then you want to make sure you are bringing the club back in one plane.

-Moving back and through the ball shifting your weight smoothly - don’t turn your shoulders as you come down. Some techniques teach to stay fairly square and use your spine/axis to swing through the ball thereby creating less movement.

-Trying to “kill the ball.” This is typically a mental thing where we try to overswing and hit the ball 500 yards like Happy Gilmore instead of just swinging through the ball and letting our body and club do the work.

-Not following through properly. Signs of this include being off balance, lifting your head too soon and topping the ball, or noticing your weight on the back foot/falling backwards.

To get more distance off the tee takes practice. For me, it is a result of a big swing with more movement and velocity than most.

These are more advanced tactics and if you are having trouble being straight or controlling the ball, I recommend focusing on that before you worry about the long drives.

Personally, in the past few years, I have toned down my swing to control the ball more and hit straighter shots.

I’d rather be 250 yards in the fairway than 310 yards in the woods, wouldn’t you?

Golf is a learning process and a reason we are so drawn to it.

There are many tips and drills you can learn to master the tee shot and hit the ball longer and straighter.

How to Fade the Golf Ball

How to Fade the Golf Ball by Christopher J. Johnson

The fade is a great shot to play, especially off the tee. It is easier to control than the draw and is the “go to” shot of many professionals when they need to put the ball in play. It does not travel as far as a draw, but hitting that second shot out of the fairway is more important than distance. If you don’t believe me, Jack Nicklaus routinely played a fade.
The fade produces more backspin on the ball. It is a left to right ball flight for right-handed people and a right to left ball flight for left-handed people.

Most courses are set up to be more forgiving to people who hit the ball to the right. The most common swing fault among the average golfer is the slice. A majority of golfers are also right handed. If most courses contained water hazards and thick trees to the right of the fairway, many golfers would toss their clubs in the lake and quit forever.

The following instructions are for a right-handed player.

Line up the face of the club with your target. Line up your feet, hips and shoulders to the left of your target. This opens the face of the club in relation to your body. Now just swing like you normally would. The open clubface will cause the ball to move left to right. Since you set your body up to the left, the ball will start to the left and turn back towards the target.

There are other ways to create a fade. Basically you want your club to take an outside to inside path in relation to the ball. I believe this way to be the easiest since you can take your normal swing once you have adjusted your stance. Adjusting your swing is a lot harder.

Be sure to try this technique out at the range a few times before using it on the course. If you over do it, a big banana slice will not help your score. Practice hard and you will be landing that ball in the fairway or curving it around that dogleg like a pro in no time. One other thing you need to remember. Golf is a game so…..HAVE FUN!

Golf Tips - How to Increase Driver Distance

Golf Tips - How to Increase Driver Distance by Christopher J. Johnson

Let’s face it. What do we all want? What do we all crave? It’s to put that little golf ball as far down the fairway as possible. If you were given a choice between increasing your distance off the tee by 30 yards, or decreasing your handicap by 4 points, which would you choose? You should choose to better your handicap, but would you? Of course not! You want to pound it past your playing partners off the box, plain and simple. Well…ok…if that is your answer, here are a couple tips to help you get those extra yards.
WIDEN YOUR STANCE

You have read to keep your feet about shoulder width apart when addressing the ball with your driver. That’s fine, but if you want the extra yards, you need to increase your swing arc. In order to do that, you need to make your stance big and wide. Now, don’t go overboard. If you do, you will limit your turn and lose distance along with some accuracy. A little beyond shoulder width will do.

MOVE THE BALL FORWARD

Have someone help you out with this one. Most people have no idea how far back the ball actually is in their stance. The ball should be just inside your left heel. For some reason, a lot of people think the ball is properly placed inside the left heel, but it is actually 3-6 inches (or more) back. Don’t ask me why this is……it just is. Have a friend check out your ball placement. You will be surprised what they tell you. At this point, don’t fight it. It will be a little uncomfortable to begin with, but just do it. After a session on the range, you will get more comfortable.

I won’t try to fill your brain with too much at this point. When it comes to the golf swing, a small change can make a huge difference so let’s take this slow. Try these tips out for a couple weeks. If they help, great! If not, there are more to come. Oh one more thing. Golf is a game so…HAVE FUN!

Mental Golf Practice to Improve Your Swing and Your Golf Performance

Mental Golf Practice to Improve Your Swing and Your Golf Performance by Andrew Fogg

Imagining yourself playing mental golf can be just as effective for your swing and golf performance as actually hitting shots on the range or playing a round of golf on the course.

Golfers and other athletes have used mental imagery to complement their physical practice. Sometimes practicing golf in the mind actually produces better results than physical practice. In a study of medical students in Texas, students were given 30 minutes of guided practice for a complex medical procedure followed by either

no further training

a further 30 minutes of physical practice

30 minutes of guided mental imagery.

In follow up tests, the students who did the guided mental imagery performed at the same level as those who had the additional physical practice and both these groups were significantly better than the group who received no further training.

So why is mental golf practice at least as good as physical practice? Well other research shows that the act of “Imagining” fires up the identical parts of the brain that would be activated if you were actually playing a stroke. The neurons used in the brain are the very same ones that would be used if you were actually playing. Indeed, some of the actual muscles involved in the imagined shot experience tiny movements. You effectively practice just by the act of visualisation.

One of my favourite stories about the power of imagination in golf comes from an American Major, James Nesmeth. He was an average golfer consistently scoring in the mid 90’s, until he developed a unique way of improving his golf game. It came when he spent seven years in North Vietnam as a prisoner of war. During those tortuous years, Nesmeth lived in solitary confinement inside a prison cell that measured four and a half feet high and 5 ft long. To keep from losing all hope, he realized that he needed to do something to occupy his mind.

Every day he played 18 holes of golf in his mind. He imagined everything in vivid detail from the country club he was playing at to the smell of freshly cut grass in the summertime. He would imagine the grip of the clubs and practice his swing mentally many times until he perfected it. In reality, he had no place to go, so he spent four hours a day on the course in his mind never leaving any detail out. When he was released from prison and returned home, he played his first real game of golf for 7 years, he scored 74!

So when you find yourself with nothing important to do, maybe when you’re travelling on public transport, when there’s nothing worth watching on television or you’re just daydreaming, just go inside your golf mind and imagine playing a round of golf. You may be surprised by the positive results.

Fix your slice in 4 easy steps

Fix your slice in 4 easy steps by davecurr

Are you fed up with slicing the golf ball? Do you often find yourself in the trees or rough because of your slice? If so, then you need help. And surprisingly, a cure for the dreaded slice is not that hard to find, and in fact I’m about to show you how to fix your slice in 4 easy steps.
What is a slice?

Assuming you are right handed, a slice normally occurs when excessive clockwise spin is placed on the ball. This causes the ball to travel to the right of the intended path. Often the degree of slice increases the further the ball travels. This often means that the harder you hit the ball, the bigger the slice (and the more trouble for you).

What causes the slice?

The clockwise spin that is put on the ball during the swing, is usually caused because your swing is an inside out swing. In other words, your swing starts slightly inside the ball, but as you make contact, the club face may open, or move across the ball (rather than remaining square at impact), putting clockwise spin on the ball.

How do you fix your slice in 4 easy steps?

Step 1 - swing easy at the ball. Try to picture a nice easy swing. Take the club back slowly. Swing easily through the ball, and finish high. Concentrate on keeping the club face square at impact.

Step 2 - for a right hander, make sure that you have a nice firm grip with your right hand. A weak grip can cause the club face to open.

Step 3 - keep your head down and watch the ball through impact. Lifting your head early will bring your body up and away from the ball causing you to hit inside the line, increasing your chances of slicing.

Step 4 - take the correct stance. Your feet should be about shoulder width apart. Make sure your weight is evenly distributed, in other words, not all on your toes or all on your heels. Make sure that you are aligned square to the target.

So there it is. Now print off these tips, take them to your local driving range, and practice, practice, practice.

Happy golfing.

Finding USA Camps

by Lonnie Lorenz

Summer camps are an American institution. Since the early 1900’s youngsters have been leaving the city and enjoying the fresh air of the country while learning camping skills. No longer is summer camp only about campfires. Now computer screens and Surfing camps have passed by the nature trails to. Many of today’s camps are not in the country but take place in the city.

At camp, children are given the choice to take risks and try new things. This voluntary nature makes children more open to new experiences, with personal satisfaction as their motivation. Not only are there opportunities to try new things, but camp offers many areas for children to excel in. At a good general interest camp, the non-athlete can shine at arts and crafts, woodworking, or dramatic programs, while the athlete can also find many outlets for their skills. Perhaps most importantly, the two campers learn to live together and become friends despite their varied interests. Animal Camp

Novices have chances to learn, while those who are more experienced can improve. Learning new skills and improving on old ones builds self-esteem. Kids learn independence and how to be self-reliant at camp.

Many years from now campers may not remember capture the flag games or the words to a camp song, Yet, the life lessons learned at camp will remain. Campers learn how to take responsibility. The child who has never before made a bed, will learn how to smooth out sheets and blankets and tidy up a locker. Counselors are always on hand to encourage campers to take responsibility for themselves along minor health issues, a camper learns to articulate what hurts and how to get help. All of this personal responsibility further fosters a sense of independence and self-esteem. Social skills also increase by making new friends and learning how to reach out to strangers. At camp, children learn to get along with others, all while living together 24 hours a day, learning about courtesy, compromise, teamwork, and respect is no small task.

For campers from a foreign country Camps in USA provide a unque opportunity for children to learn about America from local kids. All in a fun and encouraging environment. Not to mention daily using the English language.

Top 15 Tips on Golf Swing

Presented by GolfClubsHome.com and discount hybrid golf clubs.

You can find golf swing tips online or you can buy one of the many golf swing lessons e-books. Many of these tips on golf swing techniques go into a lot of detail; at times, too much detail. If you have a swing fault, what you need are a few basic golf swing tips - whether it is to learn more about the short game in golf or to fix a slice.

5 Tips on How to Drive Long Off the Tee

One of the best ways to achieve lower scores is to gain more golf distance. When you are faced with a shorter distance to the green you will have more chance to score par or better. Needless to say, you will need accuracy as well as distance; otherwise you will be in a worse position. Here are 5 easy and quick tips to help you drive long:

(1) Tee the ball up higher and position it off your leading foot’s instep so that you hit the ball on the upswing; (2) Don’t hit the ball with all your power - use a steady rhythm and work on increasing your swing speed; (3) Use the right shaft flex for your swing speed - use a flexible shaft if you have a lower swing speed; (4) Cock your wrists early on the backswing and un-cock them as late as possible on the downswing; (5) Turn your shoulders a full 90 degrees for maximum distance.

5 Tips on How to Master Golf Irons

How to master golf irons is a subject that is often ignored. There are lots of help available to improve your drives and general golf game but not much help specifically for your golf iron play. With these 5 tips you will learn to dominate your golf irons:

(1) Practice on the driving range to know your average distance with each golf iron in your bag; (2) Use the right iron for the distance you want to hit it and use a full swing; (3) Take into account the wind strength and distance as well as other factors like height and slopes; (4) Playing from the rough is different from playing from the fairway - you will need to adjust the ball position, stance, iron loft, and attack angle; (5) Learn proper course management - going for the pin is sometimes not the best option.

5 Tips on How to Improve Golf Short Game

The short game of golf is one of the most important areas of the game. Being able to hit 300 plus yards straight down the middle of the fairway is all well and good, but if you can’t get the ball on the green with your chip shots, that perfect drive will be wasted. You need to practice the short game of golf to lower your score, so check out the following 5 tips on chipping:

(1) Use a bump and run from under 50 yards, and get the ball rolling as quickly as possible; (2) Place your feet closer together and use a slightly open stance; (3) Pick one club, a 7, 8, or 9 iron for example, and practice your chipping from different distances with the club you are more comfortable with; (4) The length of your back-swing will determine the distance the ball will travel (carry and roll); (5) If you have to play over a hazard, use a more lofted iron with a pitching style of swing.

The above 15 tips on golf swing techniques cover 3 areas of the game that are important but there are other areas that you have to master. They are putting, sand trap or bunker play, pitching, and learning how to cure a slice or a hook (if you have on of those swing faults.) Golf is an all round game; meaning that you need to be proficient in every area of the game. Don’t just focus on how to be the longest driver; instead practice with every club in your golf bag until you are proficient.

Easy Ways to Improve Your Golf Score With These Simple Ideas

by Golf Buddy

After playing tons of rounds with so many people, I noticed what the good golfers do that others don’t.

There’s always people who try to buy equipment. They buy their way and think it will help them. While it certainly won’t hurt, most people believe that it won’t lower your score all that much!

Committed people start looking into lessons. They are great, but takes a lot of time and effort. They need to practice, practice and practice.

The ultra addicted always practice their short game. It might be the best method but it’s ultra hard to do because it takes so much time! Practice, hitting ball after ball after ball will become routine if you fall under this category.

There some ways that are more easier.

1. Glove - We all need to change gloves much more often than we do. If we don’t change gloves every so often, we cannot grip the clubs pretty soon and our clubs will slip! How do you expect to hit the ball at the same spot every time?

2. Spikes - New spikes usually bring new life into my golf game. No longer am I slipping all over the place but it’s also easier to walk the course with it. Especially in the sand or in uneven lies, I hit the ball much better.

3. Tees - Keep your tee height the same might be the most important part of your tee shot. Especially on iron shots where the clubs aren’t as forgiving, hitting at the same spot is much more crucial for ultimate accuracy.

4. Hydration - In the early days of my golfing career, I would play well and then lose the edge towards the end of the round. After a while of this frustration, I read somewhere that keeping myself hydrated will help me sustain my energy and focus. This means drinking water, Gatorade or some type of liquids throughout the round. Nowadays, it wouldn’t be uncommon for me to drink 2-3 bottles of water during an 18-hole round. 4-6 strokes saved

5. Warm up - Don’t want to suck on the first few holes while you figure out which game you brought with you today? Warm up!

6. Eat Light - Heavy eating is a no-no on the course. You end up losing focus after a big meal so it’s hard to pick and execute the right shots. Eating something light is great for your score.

Important Golf Rules To Follow While Playing Game

Golf is an old game; records show that it originated in Netherlands in the year 1297. The initial equipment was a stick and a leather ball, which scholarly individuals play. Today, varieties to golf clubs are being used to play this game. Players are commonly the upper class individuals, however, developments introduced golfing to the middle class individuals as well. It is therefore useful for golf players to know the rules before embarking on laying their foot on the tee.

This article will guide you to some of the important golf rules to follow while playing this game.

It may help to mention at this point, that the two large golf organizations that take care of the establishment and enforcement of the rules are the United States Golf Association (USGA) and The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of Saint Andrews (R&A).

Both these bodies carry the flag of fairness in the rules. To help you play this game fair and square, keep in mind rules of the game and apply. Let these rules guide you and enjoy playing this relaxing game on the green, in the bunker and even on the water hazard.

Golf Rules

- Follow the equipment rules; depending on the tournament you are joining, you will need to bring the proper gear before you will be allowed to play.

- Players should play the ball right in the position where it rested after a stroke.

- Player must not accept assistance in making a stroke.

- The course must not be altered to gain advantage over the opponent

- The ball will only be replaced once proven unplayable or destroyed.

- An amateur player should not have received money for playing the game.

This is the general rule; some diversions to the rule apply in some other associations. However, most golfers of the world follow the rules stated above.

The rules however will not make sure that you are going to be able to play a good game. The best way to fully enjoy the game is to practice hard and being fair.

Finally, the choice of your golf club may also be important. You however do not need to buy expensive and branded golf clubs. This is a common mistake of golf beginners, they purchase costly golf clubs and when they finally hit the green, they are not comfortable with their equipment, they fail in their effort, and their hard-earned money went flying out their window.

The recommendation of golf experts is that you use the equipment you are comfortable with. Buying a secondhand golf club will be advantageous for beginning golfers. If you have extra money, invest on your shoes and other gear rather than the branded golf clubs.

Fitness Program For Golfers

Whether you are just getting started with golf or you are a seasoned player just coming off their off-season, here are some fitness ideas to help you condition for the game of golf.

The first thing you have to work on in golf fitness is your flexibility. Which makes sense, because in order to execute your golf swing correctly you have to develop the range of motions within your joints and muscles. Flexibility exercises should be done no less than four days a week. So that the exercises can be done correctly, allow ten to fifteen per session. Make sure you pay very close attention to your technique. If you arent doing your exercises correctly, then you wont be doing any good for your golf game. And, finally, as always recommended please check with a doctor or physician before starting any type of exercise program.

You also need to incorporate strength training in your golf fitness program. The important thing with strength training is similarity. You want to do exercises that closely resemble your golf swing or at least a certain phase of it.

Stretching is common in all golfers, especially older players. But it is much different than stretching for a run. You should include mostly rotational stretches in your fitness program for your core, lower back, shoulders and hips. This will certainly improve your game on the course.

If you combine your strengthening and stretching exercises then you will be able to get maximum results. For every strength exercise you do, you need a stretch exercise for that muscle you are working.

Another body part that needs to be strengthened for golf is your wrist. Your wrists play an important part in your golf swing. They control the club and provide the power behind your swing. You need to incorporate some wrist strengthening exercises into your program that will strengthen them for their role.

It is important to stay healthy for you perfect golf game. Look after and condition yourself properly.

Important Tips Of The Winning Golf Swings

Developing the perfect golf swing takes time and tons of practice. It also pays to take note of how pro golfers execute their winning swings. By taking note of the following tips and taking time to work them out, you will surely be enjoying tournament successes in no time.

1. Ask any pro golfer, and he or she will tell you that the power it takes to get that ball flying does not come from the arms alone. Use your entire body to achieve maximum power. If you are used to fuelling the golf club with your arms, wrist and hands, then you might struggle at first trying to employ the rest of your body. Practice hitting the ball with using your torso and legs. Once you get the hang of swinging the club with your entire body, you will notice that you are sending that ball flying with more consistency and accuracy.

2. Swivel your shoulders perfectly each time you do a backswing. Your right forearm should be parallel to your spine and your left wrist is flat. To ensure you are doing it the right way, your elbows and arms should form a triangle. Make sure you got this effective position pat at the top of your swing you are guaranteed a perfectly solid hit, and a more accurate one.

3. Many amateurs fail at making a solid hit because of two reasons. First, the right way of pivoting the wrist is done too late during the backswing because the takeaway is likely to be too low to the ground. Second, achieving a bad posture by swinging the club too far during the backswing, thinking this is the right way to gain power. However, taking note of a few things will help eradicate these flaws. Make sure a 45-degree angle exists between your left arm and the shaft of the club at setup. Your hands should remain as close to the ground as possible during the takeaway, while moving the head of the club upwards rapidly. Notice that your shaft is perpendicular to the ground left arm is parallel to it? This is about enough to prevent you from swinging your armstoo far at the backswing; thus, putting off bad posture and reverse pivot.

4. Golf is an outdoor game, so its best of you are able to practice chipping outdoors. However, one is tempted to hit chips indoors from time to time. You can perfect your chipping with the help of a wooden rod or a busted club shaft. Get the hang of your chipping technique just make sure that your left wrist remains solid as the club passes through the area of impact. The rod or shaft you are using will hit your left side should your left wrist give way during the impact. Practice is the key to mastering your chipping.

5. From time to time, even pro golfers get caught red handed losing flex in their back legs as they try for distance. Inconsistent swings constantly take the success out of any game of golf. It is best to practice your swings from time to time and view your posture in a full-length mirror for better self review. Start with the setup position, hold it then look at the mirror. Do the backswing, hold it and observe your posture. This will help you determine your postural flaws during your golf swing.

Learn The Mechanics Behind Your Golf Swing Properly

Golfers everywhere try to replicate the “perfect” golf swing to improve their game in leaps and bounds, making shots effortless and very professional. However, one thing to note that there is no such thing as the perfect golf swing as there is only a perfect golf swing for each player. As our bodies were made differently, so should our mentality in swinging a golf club. By adhering to basic principles and practicing everyday, anyone can achieve perfection and hit the ball onto the green every single time.

A lot of golfers suffer from not being able to hit either their drivers or irons right at all, causing slices and other problems with their swing. Some tend to have a to blame list: the weather, the slope, too much overtime affecting their game, or that theyre just warming up. One thing that many golfers forget to take a note of is the fact that basic motions are always the best way to go.

Here are six basic principles that can help you get the mechanics of your golf swing properly.

1. Alignment is crucial in hitting your target square. The fundamental concept behind a proper golf swing is hitting the ball dead center, which means that alignment is the most important basic in a proper golf swing.

2. Make sure that you have a comfortable stance that will let you rotate your body in the most effortless way possible. Think of your spine as an axis and find your center of gravity by pushing your backside out. Once you achieve that comfortable stance, then you should have less problems.

3. Keep a vigilant eye on what you are going to hit. This has got to be the most ignored rule as it seems so simple. However, this definitely is the most important rule to keep in mind as you have to see what you are supposed to hit in the first place the actually hit. This is all about common sense, so do it.

4. Be patient and keep your mind concentrated on your goal. Do this by thinking smoothly and having your feet planted firmly on the ground. This is not about what happens next or what you did in the past. This is about the present, and you should always concentrate on what is now to achieve anything significant in the future. This way, you can achieve proper rhythm in your golf swing.

5. A good way of thinking is “sweep” for woods and “pinch” for irons. This may sound strange, but it can help you with your game as these are how clubs are designed. An iron is supposed to pinch the ball off the ground, while a driver is supposed to sweep it off the tee.

6. Humming a rhythm can help you keep your mind away from the golf swing and more on hitting the ball. These two things sound similar, but there is a fundamental difference. Thinking about the golf swing is a complication as it is more about technical aspects of the game, while hitting the ball is just the basic concept that the game is about.

Keeping things simple is the way to go as it helps you concentrate on the details that truly matter without making you panic when you do commit a mistake. A golfers enemies are Lack of self-esteem and fear.

Get A Sound Golf Swing To Sort Out Your Game

Golf is a wonderful game, played by many throughout the world I think the attraction of the game for me is that you can build the best golf swing ever, but you can never beat the game.

You will have your good days and certainly you will have your bad days but it is the constant challenge that golf puts up to me that keeps me coming back. Time and time again friends have thrown their clubs in the back of the car vowing never to return until they sort their golf swing out.

But they are usually the first ones on the tee next week, golf provides a constant challenge of weather, course conditions and nerve that keeps enthusiasts like me coming back for more.

How To Develop A Sound Golf Swing

The problem with starting out golf is that there is so much to think of and to buy. First there are the clubs themselves, then a bag to carry them around in. You then need something to hit and quite often lose, the golf balls, then of course you need to be prepared for the weather so you need shirts, jumpers and of course a wet suit just in case it rains.

Once you have all that then you may start to think about having some golfing lessons to learn about the golf swing itself.

A good idea to start out with is a course of lessons with the club pro. This will give you a sound grasp of the fundamentals but only of you practice to work into your game the methods and tricks your pro is teaching you. By the way try to book a course of lessons that includes the pro taking you out on the course, at least once and buy some golf swing videos to help back up your learning.

Driving ranges and practice areas are essential parts of any golf club but there is never any substitute for experience on the course. When starting out, course management is probably very far from your mind but a little bit of knowledge in this area is worth many shots. Your pro will probably get you to play shots from various parts of the course and explain the pros and cons of what club and type of shot to play, very valuable information.

Once your course of lessons is over however it is over to you to keep up the development work on your golf swing.

Most people do not want to keep affording golf lessons but fortunately there are cheaper alternatives to use in the form of books and videos and the odd golf swing tip. You can always go back to the pro at a later date to iron out specific problems under an experienced eye.

A golf swing book is great because being lightweight you can take it to the driving range and practice that particular swing point the author is explaining to you first hand. Many people find videos a great way to learn and progress their game.

Hopefully this article has given you an idea of how to move your game on and make your introduction to golf a less frustrating and more enthralling experience.

The Making Of A Bad Golf Swing

The perfect golf swing is the most important thing for a golfer of any handicap and experience. Greenhorns and veterans of the game strive to make their golf swings a little better than last weekend’s 18 holes. There are a lot of instructional videos and booklets that are available to improve a golfer’s swing but none of them will work if you fail to understand some of the basic concepts of what makes a golf swing bad.

The Set-up

The key element of a bad golf swing is sometimes not the golf swing itself but the most of the time it is the golfer’s set-up. The set-up may pertain to different things like the golfer’s clubs, his accessories, the clothes and etcetera. Some golfers think that a good set-up can make up for the lousy swing.

One of the most crucial mistakes that a golfer can make is underestimating the time spent on the set-up than the game. Some even think that they can have all the names in golf with them and just whack the ball silly. It may have worked for Happy Gilmore but it sure won’t work for Average Joe and his lousy swing because Happy Gilmore is in a movie and Average Joe is not.

One of the most important things that you should remember is that the set-up should not pertain to the clothes you wear and the clubs you carry, but it should mean the preparation for your swing.

Bad Posture can kill your game

If you are one of those golfers that overlook their posture, you should think of considering a new sport because golf is not for you. It is important in golf that you know when your posture is bad. The key element of a good swing is the proper alignment of your neck and head. The straight line formed by your head and neck will dictate the force of the drive that can be delivered by you to the ball and flight. Once you are hunched over the ball it will move to either sides or fall short of the green no matter how hard you hit it.

Another important factor is balance. You should have good balance to deliver a good amount of forward thrust to your swing. And unbalanced footing usually hinders a golfer from delivering the full impact of the clubhead motion to the ball. This is because of the uneasiness that the golfer feels about his stance. Delivering a solid blow usually means your footing should be sure. Posture and balance problems can easily be corrected with practice and good habits. After you have made your muscle memory comfortable with the position you want to achieve you will have no problem at all.

Chicken Wings

Chicken wings are good especially after a good game of golf. But when you bring your chicken wings to the game, things will definitely turn out for the worse. It is better that you leave your chicken wings in a basket at home where they can be the perfect in game munchies.

A chicken swing implies that a golfer may be having a bad habit when taking a swing. When putting or in a putting game, letting your arm and wrist go limp is what you call a chicken wing. What happens after this is that the golfer’s arm goes flying up in the air losing all the power to your swing.

Golfers who tend to take their swings lightly usually commit chicken wings. When you lose the power of your swing it usually ends up chopping or slicing your golf swing.

Correcting the Golf Slice - Tips to Fix Your Slice

The clubface being open to the swing path may be the technical cause of all slices but it.s the outside-to-inside swing that makes the slice so complicated and so difficult to cure. An outside-to-inside swing will in most circumstances encourage you to hit the ball with an open clubface producing a slice. Yes, you could hit a pull or a pull hook, but this occurs far less frequently than the slice.

For most golfers both the open clubface and the outside-to-inside swing work together to cause the slice. If you cure just one factor you will most likely still slice! This is what makes the slice so difficult to cure. If all slices were hit with a straight swing path (just with the clubface open), the slice would be a relatively easy problem to cure.

Let’s say that you have the perfect set up, what other factors could cause your slice?

The swing-path through the ball is the most influential, for a slice to occur you will be swinging the club on an outside to inward swing-path, this when contacting the ball imparts a sideways or clockwise spin on the golf ball.

How can we stop this? Well once you have set up correctly try swinging the club in an opposite swing-path. In other words try to swing the club on an inside to out swing-path, making sure that you release your wrists through impact. Taking the club away from the ball low and slow on the back swing can help here.

To practice this technique you can start to practice with half swings to get a feel for the shot. If you have been habitually slicing you will have become so accustomed to swinging out-to-in that you wont even know that you are doing it. Make sure your hands are not too tight on the grip and that your wrists are free to release at impact.

When practicing at the golf range place two clubs parallel to each other pointing towards your target. One club should be six inches behind your ball and the other should be just in front of your feet. This will help you to align your body and also to help give you a line to play to for trying to swing in to out.

The key points to correcting a slice is, set up your alignment square to target line.
Check that your grip isn’t too tight, too much tension in the grip means that you will not be able to release your wrists through the ball. Check and make sure that your ball position isn’t too far forward and make sure that your posture is good and that you are well balanced.

One last tip, try hitting some golf balls from a side hill lie with the ball above your feet. This can help as it assists in promoting an in-to-out swing path. Make sure that you will go through this golf swing instruction tips, if you want to be expert.

How to Make Sure That you Have a Good Golf Swing

A lot of professional golfers are in disagreement as to how you should go about driving the golf ball but there is one thing that every one of them does agree upon. This is the fact that you really do need to keep your balance throughout your entire good golf swing.

If you are unable to keep your balance then you are not going to be able to have a good stroke. While this may sound easy you should know that if you grip the ball too hard your body is going to be stiff and unbalanced.

This is why golf teachers show their students that they should not try to hit the ball very hard. The reason for this is that a well-placed strike will do much better than a hard new golf swing ever will.

How to Have a Good Golf Swing

One thing that is very important when you want to have a good golf swing is keeping your head really still. The less you actually move your head the more you will be able to focus upon the ball and the better your balance will be. Along with keeping your head still, you also need to relax your entire body and all of your muscles. This will also help you with keeping your head still and your body relaxed, which is also an important part of your good golf swing.

This can all be practiced in a full-length mirror, so you do not have to be on the golf course to make it work for you. In fact, whenever you practice in front of a mirror you will actually be able to notice everything that you are doing wrong. It will also allow you to work some things out for yourself since there are no two golfers who are built the same.

Nevertheless, keeping your head still and your body relaxed is the one thing that is not optional because it will not only improve your good golf swing but also improve the other small problems that may be occurring in your game as well.

Of course, you probably also know that if you do not follow through properly withh good golf grip you will be unable to remain balanced, which is also a very important part of your game. When you concentrate on your balance and keep your head still you also will not be able to swing very hard, which is something that you really do not want to do anyway.

What you should start noticing is distinct improvements in your accuracy, distance and overall swing capability.

Once you have had sufficient practice at the driving range you should now test your superior swing on the golf course. It would be good if you can have someone video your golf swing again. Take careful note of any improved scores and pay particular attention to your style and comfort level in comparison to your previous sessions.

Compare the two videos to ensure the changes you have made to your swing have worked effectively. Developing perfect golf swing biomechanics is about seeing your overall game consistently change for the better.

Improve Your Swing And Lower Your Score

Golfers beginners to professionals are constantly looking to improve their game. And everyone knows that one of the core fundamentals to great golf is a great swing. A careful review of how you swing your club can make significant improvements to your game. Eliminating what you are doing improperly and improving what you are doing correctly will create significant and cumulative improvements.

There are certain fundamental elements to the swing that even the pros often forget. As you peruse this article you’ll find these tips will make measurable if sometimes modest improvements that accumulate to lowering your score.

Let’s start with your stance. The first thing you want to do is to make sure that you are relaxed and comfortable. If your posture is uptight and tense, then there is an increased chance that your swing won’t arc and follow through the way you want it to.

Once you are in a comfortable and relaxed position with your club in hand, you’ll also want to make sure that your feet are solidly planted about a shoulder’s width apart. A lot of golfers are tempted to raise their heels up when they swing, but this is the opposite of what you need to do. If you are lifting your heels up while you swing, this may alter your center of gravity and negatively impacts the velocity of your swing. It is now obvious, your posture is one of the most important aspects here.

To gain consistency in you swing, your must practice as often as possible. Even if you are a weekend golfer, it’s still important to practice. Even when you are just golfing for enjoyment, it’s even more enjoyment when you do better. You won’t be able to see any real results unless you dedicate a portion of your time to mastering your swing. You should feel confident in whichever one you choose.

One of the big challenges that golfers who live in the northern half of the United States face is the inability to play golf during the snow and cold of winter. However, in many of these areas, homes are built with basements that if they have a high enough ceiling can be a great place to set up practice aids like a net, a golf mat which will allow you to swing away.

Another great alternative is to use a golf simulator. These can dramatically improve your swing as they provide feedback you need to make the small but important changes to get better. And the great thing is that these golf simulators are now quite attractive and can hook up to a simple laptop. Find simulators and other great golf equipment at many online golf stores.

Finally, if it’s your spouse who golfs, don’t forget that a good video on swing improvement, a practice net or golf simulator all make gifts for golfers which he (or she) will love for years to come.

Games Golfer Like to Play

How to Break 80

Golfers like to play games during a match, especially those players with low golf handicaps. Some foursomes have a regular game whenever they get together and play. Others do not. Golf games add a little spice to a match and pressure players to perform. They provide a chance to execute an adjustment learned in a golf lesson or execute a golf tip. And they offer a chance to win money, gain a free drink, or earn bragging rights. Many golf games entail putting.

Perhaps the all time favorite game is the Nassau. The Nassau, as explained by Brent Kelly, the golf guide at About.com, is one of the most popular golf tournament formats and golf bets. It is three tournaments or bets in one: the front nine, the back nine and the 18-hole scores all count as seperate tournaments or bets. In a Nassau tournament, the player (or team) winning the front nine wins a prize, the player (or team) winning the back nine wins a prize, and the player or team with the low 18-hole total wins a prize.

Below are some other popular golf games that you and your foursome may enjoy playing next time youre out on the course.

Three-Putt Poker
On the first tee everyone throws a nominal amount of money in a pot and gets a playing card. Each time a golfer one-putts a green, he has to get another card. Each time he three-putts, he adds money to the pot. At the end of nine holes, the golfer holding the best poker hand takes all the money and everyone re-antes for the second nine.

One-Hole Press
A press is a gamblers mulligan. It's a chance to salvage a discouraging match by starting a new bet. A one-hole press is like any other press, except that it expires at the end of the current hole rather than running to the end of the game. Terms and limitations, if any, should be settled at the beginning.

Saskatchewan
This is a putting game. If youre on the green and you havent putted yet and your ball lies farther from the hole than the length of the flagstick, you can yell Saskatchewan. If you then make the putt, everyone pays you a dollar. But if you three-putt, you pay everyone else three dollars. Some players know this game by another name, but names in golf games dont really matter that much.

Worst-Ball
This game is the opposite of best ball. If you or your partner does worse on a hole than both of your opponents, you lose a point. Worst ball can be played along side of best ball, where you get a point if you or you partner score lower than both of your opponents.

The Skins Game
One game made popular by television is Skins. It pits players in a type of match play in which each hole has a set value (usually in money or points). The player who wins the hole wins the skin, and whatever the skin is worth. Skins games are more dramatic than standard match play because holes are not halved. When players tie on a given hole, the value of the hole carries over and adds to the value of the following hole. The more ties, the greater the value of the skin and the bigger the eventual payoff.

Playing games with side bets adds a little extra to a golf match. Most golfers like to keep their bets to a minimum. Some players with low golf handicaps play for a little more. Nevertheless, golf games are a good way to spice up that regular golf date. They can also be golf lessons in themselvesthanks to the addition of a little pressure. Theres a wide range of golf games to choose from. But whichever game you play, try to keep it enjoyable and pleasant.

The Joys Of Playing Golf

Do you like golf? I know I do, but not for the reasons most people think. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy driving the ball from the tee and seeing it sail 300 yards down the center of the fairway. I like hitting a 3-iron 250 yards to the green, and I really like sinking 30-yard putts. But that isn’t why I play golf.

I play for the stress relief! Have you ever heard the phrase, “A bad day on the golf course is better than a good day at work?”

That statement is more true than most of us realize. If you play golf for relaxation and meditation, you will be less stressed. I even prefer to play by myself when I don’t have to be concerned with chasing someone else’s ball! (I have enough issues chasing my own).

You can learn to play golf by getting videos for less than $10. After that, try finding a starter set of golf clubs on Ebay, or at your local resale shop. You can probably develop a good golfing habit for less than $200 if you look around.

There is nothing like a relaxing day playing golf and enjoying some “me” time. You should try it as soon as spring rolls around. You never know, you may just get hooked!

Golf: Do You Play By The Rules?

Golf is a game in which a ball is struck with a club from a prepared area, known as the “teeing ground”, across fairway and rough to a second prepared area, which has a hole in it, known as the “putting green”. The object of the game is to complete what is known as a hole by playing a ball from the teeing ground into the hole on the putting green in the fewest possible number of strokes. A “round of golf’ consists of playing 18 such holes.

There are basically two forms of play, one which is decided by holes won and lost (match play) and the other which is decided by the total number of strokes taken to complete the round (stroke play).

Simple Basic Rule:

The Game

* The holes on the course must be played in order (1 through 9, or 1 through 18) unless the committee says otherwise.

* You must always play by the Rules. You are not allowed to change or ignore them.

Match Play

* In match play, each hole is a separate contest. If you win the first hole, you are “one-up”; if you lose it, you are “one-down”; if you halve it, you are “all-square.”

* You have won the match when you are more holes up than there are left to play. For example, if you are three-up and there are only two holes left to play, you have won “three and two”.

* Anyone you are playing against is your “opponent.”

Stroke Play

* In stroke play, the competitor with the lowest total score for the round (or rounds) is the winner.

* You must play your ball into the hole before starting the next hole.

* Anyone you are playing with is a “fellow-competitor”.

* It is not possible to play match play and stroke play at the same time.

Clubs and the Ball

* You may carry no more than fourteen clubs.

* You may not change balls during the play of a hole unless a Rule allows it. However, if you damage your ball or it goes out of shape, you may change the ball after first consulting your opponent or fellow competitor. Get some more information from golf ebook review.

Golf Swing Tips to Better Your Golf Game.

Any golfer, whether experienced or not, is going to want to learn about the best golf swing tips out there so that they can improve their golf swing and get a better handicap. If you are interested in learning about some of the best golf swing tips, here are a few that are very helpful and sure to better your game.

Use Your Body for Power

One of the very best golf swing tips is to use your body for power. The power comes from the body and not from the arms. To strengthen your core, there are a few exercises that you can do. Many people do not realize just how important physical strength is in golf, because the players basically just stand there and swing, but what you dont see is how much they are working out their body.

This is an important tip to know because many people make the mistake of thinking that just because they are not that strong or because they have weak arms that they are not going to be able to hit the ball far, when really the power in your swing has nothing at all to do with your arms.

Keep Your Hands Low

Another of the best golf swing tips is to keep your hands low. Keeping your hands low will help to significantly improve your golf swing, and in particular limiting the height of the follow through will effectively reduce the height of your shots. The lower your hands are when you swing, the lower the ball flight and this is a really key point to remember.

Golf Swing Software

Another idea is to use the golf swing software that is available. There are quite a few different types of software that you can choose from, so depending on the particular areas of your golf game that you want to focus on and the money that you have available to spend, there will be a fantastic selection to choose from.

Whether you are a novice golfer who just wants to get started in the game or an experienced golfer who just wants to get some tips to improve their game, these best golf swing tips will be very helpful and are sure to improve your overall game.

Keep in mind that these are certainly not the only tips you can use to improve your golf game, so not only should you learn as many more tips and tricks as you can, but talk to your fellow golfers and see what they do to have the best golf games because they may just have some terrific ideas to offer you.

Topic Of Big Bertha FT-3 Produced by Callaway Golf

This Callaway Golf product incorporates what is known as fusion technology. This special technology alters and blends the weight of the driving head of the driver to compensate for the kind of dangle that the golfer is adventuring.  This driver is known as the Big Bertha FT 3 fusion driver and there are three different types of this Callaway Golf driver to choose from.

Specifically, the driving head of these three types of Callaway Golf drivers in this line each weigh 44 grams. The difference in each of these 3 types is how the weight is altered and built into the driver.  There are three particular areas to the driver that make up the full 44 grams of weight. If the golfer, when driving the golf ball, experiences a fade or a slice, the appropriate Big Bertha FT-3 driver to select is the draw driver. The weight of this driver is heavier towards the opposite side of where the fade is experienced.

A golfer who experiences a hooking or a drawing with their drive is advised to select the fade style of this Callaway Golf driver.  In this type of driver the weight is shifted towards the opposite side of the experienced hook or draw.

The 3rd type of driver in this Big Bertha category is the neutral driver.  The full 44 grams of weight contained in the driver is, for the most part, positioned evenly amongst the three specific areas of the driver. The resulting effect of this fusion technology that is built into the Big Bertha FT 3 fusion driver compensates for the swing of the golfer that may be to either side of the center of gravity.  This compensation ultimately allows for the golfer to obtain a golfing drive that is straighter in projection.

Other features of this Callaway Golf driver include a face that is made from titanium.  In addition the design of this club allows for a larger area that is conducive to making contact with the golf ball. These special factors, along with the fusion technology, allow for the golfer to complete a distance that will develop their game.

How To Maintain Electric Golf Cart Batteries During Winter

How To Maintain Your Golf Cart Batteries

Heres some tips to follow for the proper storage of your electric golf cart during winter:
First of all you should clean your batteries and ensure that all the cell caps are snugly attached. Wash the battery compartment and unplug the charger. Start on one side of the golf cart and spray Battery Neutralizer all over the tops of the batteries.

Be sure to spray between the batteries, down on the battery racks, and the inside walls of the body panels, if they are metal. Use an old paintbrush to scour all the battery tops and sides. Water from a garden hose using plain water, or use a solution of Baking Soda (about 2 tablespoons to 1 gallon of water) to neutralize the acid.

Tighten, clean, check and treat battery terminal connectors. Be sure the cables are tight to the post. Carefully wriggle each cable end side-to-side and then gently up & down. There should be no looseness or sideways movement. If your battery terminals are badly corroded, you will need to do some serious cleaning.

Check the water levels in each cell. Use distilled water to fill and be sure the electrolyte (water) in each battery cell is above the plates. In cold climates, when the cart will be left uncharged for several months, leave the water level a little low. This raises the specific gravity of the acid, which will help prevent freezing. Batteries tend to keep better in cold conditions rather than hot conditions providing the charge remains up.

A fully charged battery will not freeze until 60 to 70 below zero whereas a discharged battery can freeze at 20 degrees above zero. As a battery discharges, the acid turns into water by the basic chemical nature of the lead acid battery. More discharge means more likelyhood of freezing due to more water. Also a dirty, acid covered battery will self-discharge at a faster rate than a clean treated battery, even in cooler temperatures.

never leave yoru golf cart plugged in to a charger for extended periods of time. after you have finished charging, unplug the charger from the cart and also from the wall.

Leave the cart in Neutral and turn the key off. Either way, scotch the wheels so you can leave the hill brake released. This stops cable strain helping the brakes avoid lock-ups.

If you are not going away for the winter, you can plug your Charger in for a few hours once a month to insure a full charge is maintained. The charger should be unplugged from the car and the wall after charging.

Finalize for winter storage by checking the tire pressures and inflate to 20-25 psi.
Roll down the rain curtains and zip them part way down. If you have to leave the car out in the open, or under an open shed, neatly fold the rain curtain and bring it in the house till spring. Very cold weather will cause the see through vinyl to become very brittle and a puff of wind will blow it out.
