Fix your slice in 4 easy steps

Fix your slice in 4 easy steps by davecurr

Are you fed up with slicing the golf ball? Do you often find yourself in the trees or rough because of your slice? If so, then you need help. And surprisingly, a cure for the dreaded slice is not that hard to find, and in fact I’m about to show you how to fix your slice in 4 easy steps.
What is a slice?

Assuming you are right handed, a slice normally occurs when excessive clockwise spin is placed on the ball. This causes the ball to travel to the right of the intended path. Often the degree of slice increases the further the ball travels. This often means that the harder you hit the ball, the bigger the slice (and the more trouble for you).

What causes the slice?

The clockwise spin that is put on the ball during the swing, is usually caused because your swing is an inside out swing. In other words, your swing starts slightly inside the ball, but as you make contact, the club face may open, or move across the ball (rather than remaining square at impact), putting clockwise spin on the ball.

How do you fix your slice in 4 easy steps?

Step 1 - swing easy at the ball. Try to picture a nice easy swing. Take the club back slowly. Swing easily through the ball, and finish high. Concentrate on keeping the club face square at impact.

Step 2 - for a right hander, make sure that you have a nice firm grip with your right hand. A weak grip can cause the club face to open.

Step 3 - keep your head down and watch the ball through impact. Lifting your head early will bring your body up and away from the ball causing you to hit inside the line, increasing your chances of slicing.

Step 4 - take the correct stance. Your feet should be about shoulder width apart. Make sure your weight is evenly distributed, in other words, not all on your toes or all on your heels. Make sure that you are aligned square to the target.

So there it is. Now print off these tips, take them to your local driving range, and practice, practice, practice.

Happy golfing.
