Few points to ponder for a golfer
Golf is an amazing game. Lush green fairway surrounding shining lakes look like an ideal place to be in. it brings joy to those who see and those who play. Amateurs think that golfing is easy. Its only a matter of club impacting the ball. They miss out on so many other imperatives. They get to know it when they hit their first shot. They understand the technicality when the shot goes down the drain completely.
As a player, you have got to work on three major defects. These are ineffective swing, poor grip and a lot of slice while hitting the shot. Ineffective swing fails to provide a smart trajectory to the shot. This means that the shot does not travel the distance. Moreover, it also does not go in the direction you are looking to hit it. Slices introduce false spin into the shot. Again the shot lands somewhere close by and that too in undesired direction. Wrong grips hinder wrist action and hence the control over the shot is completely lost.
For the grip, it is advised to use the fingers as much as possible. Palm based grip is undesirable. For effective swing, it is advised to be in complete control of body balance and relax your body before the shot. It is also advisable to pause at the top of the backswing. This automatically strengthens the downswing. To cut down on slices, the head should be in the line of the spine and the chin should look up through the nose while hitting the shot.
Let us ponder over golf balls now. These use a lot of aerodynamics. The element of aerodynamics is created due to dimples that are used in balls today. The dimples add to the lift in the shot once a golfer uses spin on the golf ball. Gutta Percha balls used in 1850s did not travel through the fairway. These were nice balls but distance was very important for golfers. It led to a research that marked or scored golf balls would go the full distance.
Naturally, a lot of surface designs were put to test. Today dimpled enamels are being used; the balls are made up of rubber core wound over a rubber thread. The aerodynamics hence introduced provides the ball with a lot of distance. It also induces lift and trajectory. The reason is simple. A marked ball has a greater separation drag. This causes a large change in pressure flow on hitting the ball. This is why the ball gets the momentum we see once the club hits the ball.
Golf drivers are another important part. They are the most expensive clubs in the bag. These are generally made of titanium or steel. They have a graphite or a steel shaft and come in all the three sizes; the low, mid and high. These use very low lofts which give them better trajectory and healthy distances. Today, used golf drivers are available over many online stores.
